A visit to The Den is a special kind of experience for a football fan. Millwall supporters have a reputation for being people you shouldn’t (or at least shouldn’t healthily) mess with, and the rivalry with Charlton Athletic is regarded as the “London derby for connoisseurs.” The problem is that the latter club has been playing in League One for several years, which is the third tier of English football, and this is unlikely to change in the following season.
On a cold Saturday afternoon, the guests from Sheffield cared much more about winning to escape the relegation zone and prolong their stay in the lower division of Her Majesty’s Premier League. The perseverance paid off and thanks to the goals scored by the Frenchman and the Canadian, the Owls brought home an extremely valuable 3 points from London.
After the match, with both Sons (with whom I watched the game), we went for dinner with friends around Saint Katharine Docks to nicely conclude a great weekend in the capital of Great Britain.
